3 Suspects Arrested In Attempted Murder of Homeless Man in Park In SouthLA
A third suspect was arrested by deputies Thursday in connection with the severe beating and robbery of a 55-year old homeless man on September 24, 2011, in South Los Angeles. Sheriff’s Parks Bureau deputies said the homeless victim was robbed of a few dollars and a small radio at the Colonel Leon H. Washington Park, 8908 S. Maie Avenue, South Los Angeles.
38-year old Suspect Ernest J. Jackson Junior was a Parolee at Large and arrested by deputies Thursday at the same park where the attack occurred. He is being held without bail.
Two other suspects involved in the attack had already been arrested by Sheriff’s Parks Bureau deputies. Onesi Reyes, a 27-year old homeless woman, and Richard Johnson, a 31-year old homeless man were arrested on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 for attempted murder. These suspects were identified through an ongoing investigation conducted by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau Detectives. South Zone Sheriff’s Parks Bureau deputies used the information obtained by the detectives and located Suspects Reyes and Johnson back at the same park. Suspects Onesi Reyes and Richard Johnson were taken to Century Regional Detention Facility where they were booked and held in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bail each.
The victim spent two weeks in an Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital, and was just released from the hospital Thursday.
