Today I was in the backyard of my home. I observed, a large hawk, swoop down into my yard 30 feet from me. I also saw these big black birds that appeared to chase it into my yard.
I then watched the BIG hawk kill some small animal to shreds ripping it and eating it.
I think the hawk might have stolen a baby from a black bird’s nest, and that those were the parents screeching and flying above..
I was a taken back, because the hawk was so close. The hawk then looked at me with one eye and started to walk toward me. I slowly walked to the other side of my yard about 100 feet from this bird. He then flew toward me as to attack landing on the block wall 2 feet from my head. I then slowly walked into my house and he jumped down and started ripping the grass where I had been standing.
I yelled a big boy Marine growl out the back door (now I am brave) and he ignored me. He walked around pecking at the ground for about 5 minutes, looking toward me, daring me to step out and take him on.
After a few more minutes of his evil stare, he flew over to the other fence in my yard. He then flew away as a victor of my yard, while laughing at me.
I’m not really scared, but yes I was. I find it interesting and dangerous. I had my phone but failed to take a picture because, uh, well, just because.
I could picture me wearing the old pirates patch and telling the story of my fight with the Rancho Hawk.
Be careful Hawk, I will be ready next time my foe.———Paul Schrader
